Extend the camera's MIPI signal up to 20 meters with a CAT5 Ethernet cable, supports Raspberry Pi 5M, 8M, and HQ cameras.

  • The THSER101 is a plug-and-play cable extension kit for Raspberry Pi camera and computer systems. The kit is compatible with the Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2 (Version 2.1), the HQ Camera, and defined modes of the 1.3 RPi Camera Module. THSER101 extends the cable length up to 20 meters from the camera to the RPi computer using a standard LAN cable. The extension capability is enabled by THine's V-by-One® HS technology, whose configuration is preset for easy plug-and-play installation. No software setup or programming is required. THSER101 functions as if the camera were directly connected to the computer.

  • THSER101 supports Raspberry Pi computers including Pi1/3B/3B+/4B, Compute Module1/3/3+/4, Pi Zero & Pi Zero W.

FAQ

Q: Does the MIPI extension kit transmit camera data over the Ethernet protocol? Can the kit's Ethernet port be connected to 10/100/1000 Ethernet?

A: No, the MIPI extension kit uses the Ethernet port and a standard non-crossed CAT5 cable to transmit camera data, but it is not Ethernet data. The kit cannot communicate with a standard Ethernet port. The kit converts the MIPI signal into a CML signal using THINE's V-by-One HS technology, allowing camera data to be transmitted over long distances.

Q: Does cable quality affect transmission distance?

A: Yes, tests were conducted with a UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) CAT5e cable, and the distance can be extended up to 20 meters. If you use a better Ethernet cable, such as CAT6 or 7, or even a Shielded Twisted Pair cable, the transmission distance may be longer. However, we do not have test data for CAT6 and 7 cables. Feel free to try it out.
