The Raspberry Pi Radio Module 2 is a compact, modular, certified radio module that combines Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n, 2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.2 (Classic & LE) in a single component—ideal for cost-effective IoT, industrial, and B2B applications. With integrated PA, LNA, and a common 2.4 GHz PCB antenna, the module saves space and significantly simplifies hardware design.

The module uses the same Infineon CYW43439 radio chip as the Raspberry Pi Pico W and Pico 2 W, including full software compatibility with their SDK. Thanks to its compact form factor (approx. 16.5 × 14.5 mm) and the low-pin-count SPI (gSPI) interface, it is extremely efficient in integration—particularly suitable for use in industrial embedded systems or in series production, as additional components are virtually eliminated.

Assembly instructions

  1. Thecastellated edge padsenable SMT soldering directly onto your board; the ENIG coating ensures reliability.
  2. Pay attention to afree area around the antenna(“keep-out zone”) to ensure optimal radio performance.
  3. Use the appropriateSolder reflow processwith a maximum peak temperature of 260 °C (260 °C ±2 °C at “dead-bug”).
  4. For stable wireless connections, asolid ground planecrucial (low inductance).
  5. Use thegSPI interface via PIO, according to Pico-SDK manual – note correct configuration of clock and reset.
  6. The firmware for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is loaded automatically via the Pico SDK – no customization required.
