The Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ 2 is the latest AI add-on for the Raspberry Pi 5, enabling artificial intelligence directly at the edge – without cloud dependency. It adds a Hailo-10H AI accelerator with 40 TOPS and 8 GB of dedicated LPDDR4X RAM to the Raspberry Pi 5, allowing Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision Language Models (VLMs), and generative AI workloads to be processed directly and with lower latency. This enables the implementation of local AI applications such as speech and image recognition, translation, visual scene analysis, and much more, without burdening the Raspberry Pi's main CPU.
The PCIe interface ensures connectivity to the Raspberry Pi 5, automatic detection under Raspberry Pi OS is integrated, and the platform can be seamlessly integrated into existing camera and vision frameworks. The dedicated RAM expansion clearly distinguishes the AI HAT+ 2 from its predecessor, which relied solely on the Raspberry Pi's system RAM and supported smaller model sizes.

The AI HAT+ 2 is the further development of the originalRaspberry Pi AI HAT+ , which is available in variants with 13 TOPS or 26 TOPS NPU performance and does not have its own RAM , but uses the system RAM of the Pi.
