High-resolution Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 Sensor Assembly with 12 MP & HDR

The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 Sensor Assembly offers developers and industry partners a compact and powerful camera solution. Equipped with the Sony IMX708 sensor, it delivers 12 megapixels , High Dynamic Range (HDR) , and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) for clear images in a wide range of lighting conditions.

The modular, housing-less design is ideal for integration into OEM devices and saves space in the system setup. Thanks to full support for libcamera , Picamera2 , and the well-known rpicam apps, software integration is particularly easy.

The camera is available in four versions : standard or wide with 75° or 120° angles of view, respectively, each optionally available as a NoIR version for infrared applications. With a focus range of 5 cm to infinity (Wide) or 10 cm to infinity (Standard), it is versatile in applications ranging from quality control and automation to surveillance and embedded systems .

Important for long-term projects: The module is available at least until January 2030 , thus guaranteeing a high degree of planning security.

Scope of delivery

Included in delivery are:

  • Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 Sensor Assembly (depending on the variant selected: Standard, Standard NoIR, Wide or Wide NoIR)

  • Note: Ribbon cable and mounting accessories are not included in delivery, as the product is designed as a sensor assembly (for integration into your own hardware)

Areas of application

Thanks to its compact design, solid image quality and long-term availability, the Camera Module 3 Sensor Assembly is particularly suitable for:

  • Industrial image processing (e.g. quality control, object measurement)

  • Machine control & automation (proximity focus in confined spaces)

  • Surveillance & security systems – Wide versions for comprehensive scene capture, NoIR versions for low-light/IR applications

  • Embedded systems & in-house developed OEM devices – saves installation space, enables individual integration

  • Research & Prototyping – get started quickly thanks to software support from libcamera/Picamera2

FAQ

Q: Is this assembly compatible with Raspberry Pi boards?
A: Yes – it uses the same software base (libcamera, Picamera2) as the regular Camera Module 3 and is compatible with Raspberry Pi computers.

Q: What does NoIR mean?
A: NoIR variants do not have an infrared cut filter and are therefore sensitive to infrared light – ideal for night vision or IR illumination scenarios.

Q: How long will the product be available?
A: The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 Sensor Assembly will be produced at least until January 2030, which provides planning security for B2B projects.
